New Public Landscape/Matter Space Structure, Fall 2020

Sofia Jönsson

The urban context contains traces of people, traces that are created and vanished simultaneously. With little consideration, parts of Gothenburg are being demolished, and its history with it. The 1960’s era of extinguishing seem far too close to the situation as of today. Knowledge and protests are paid little attention to in favor of money and greed.

Is it possible to increase the respect and appreciation for existing structures? How can design as a process and final result recognize and spotlight important parts of the city?
