LIBRARY IN MOTION

Architecture, Presence & Craftsmanship
ABOUT

With a focus on how architecture can create presence the project is investigating movement, tactility and light in relation to materials. Increased urbanization and globalization are challenging the inclusiveness of our cities and their ability to create commonness and understanding. In the same time things turns general and standardized. To highlight how architecture could stand for a material reality that could help to connect us to place, nature and each other the project explores how space are experienced with our bodies. The main focus have been using clay to sculpt a movement inside the building. Using craftsmanship as a method to understand and explore the materials ability and characteristics in the creation of space. The explorations have been made in relation to the development of a program for a library. Questioning how the library, as a connecting actor in the urban fabric, can survive as a place when books partly becomes digitalized.
