Spolia – fragments of reuse
This investigation aims to explore a new type of digital spolia and what might be achieved when taking fragments out of its original context, further integrating them in a digital workflow, and latter bring them back to the site in a new constellation. The fragments are gathered like treasures within the site of Esperantoplatsen in Gothenburg. The project also highlights the many possibilities of reuse and recycle in the situation of demolition. Techniques such as 3D-scanning and photography have been used.
Through the design process and the production phase of this investigation a spolia of what might possibly be a future context is presented. The method of the spolia is used as a representation tool.
