Lagerhuset

The chosen building.

Lagerhuset was built 1893 to store plants during winter. For some reason it was never built the way it was intended by the drawings.

Therefore we found a great interest in working with this building, only based on the drawings. This gave us a lot of room for speculation and a chance to experience both reading the drawings and translating them into digital drawings and physical models.

By reading the building we could divide it into these different categories for further work.

Layers

Together they create the building.

By looking at these components separately we got great ideas helping the process forward. Understanding what is necessary for the building and what is pure decoration and how these things interact and become the buildings identity.

So, by getting to know this building we asked ourselves
what parts can be brought for the design phase?

Cross-grid for construction and as ornament.
Construction as part of the experience.
The shape of the truss
.

To deepen the knowledge about the building we built both digital and physical models. Once again there was a lot of room for speculation.
