Introduction
Background
Increase in population and fast growing infrastructural activities such as building, roads, car parks in the quest of urbanization is decreasing our quality urban green areas and potential spaces for greenery. Therefore finding innovative ways to densify our urban green landscape is beneficial to us and the climate in general.
My research question
How can greenery be integrated with canopy structures in urban public spaces?
Delimitation
The research focus on three main areas which is technological green systems, urban ecology and design. The focus of the thesis did not take into consideration the various pollution in the urban areas, the maintenance, materials and cost of the design outcome.
Methodology
The main approach of the thesis is research by design. The methods used in gathering useful data were literature and case studies on the related subject. Further exploration of biomimicry concepts and design iteration were carried out.
